In Nairobi, Kenya, Garden of Hope Foundation is celebrating twelve years of impact — and pointing their momentum toward an ambitious new vision for the thousands of youth and women they're determined to reach next.
Most organizations celebrate anniversaries by looking back. Garden of Hope Foundation celebrated twelve years of serving communities in Kenya by looking ahead—sharing its strategic plan for next few years during SEGAL 2026, a gathering hosted by the Segal Family Foundation that brought together nonprofit leaders, partners, and changemakers from more than 20 African countries to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and advance locally led development.
The room told the story better than any report could. Garden of Hope Alumni. Families. Partners. All in one place, all pointing toward the same horizon.
Across Nairobi and other communities in Kenya, Garden of Hope Foundation invests in youth mentorship, education, women's economic empowerment, and community development—creating opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and entire communities.
Their new strategic plan is ambitious. Over the next four years, Garden of Hope Foundation is committed to empowering thousands of youth and women, deepening community impact, and expanding its reach across Kenya. But what makes this moment feel different isn't the document. It's the twelve years of trust and transformation that give it weight. The foundation is strong. The vision is clear. Now it's time to move.

In the same season as its anniversary celebration, Garden of Hope Foundation took the students it mentors to the Skill Up Africa Expo 2026—a full day of career exploration, conversations with universities and colleges, and the kind of experiences that can quietly redirect a young person's future.
What career is possible for me? What does the path look like? Who else has walked it?
These are the questions that Garden of Hope Foundation creates space for, consistently and intentionally.
With mentorship sessions across partner schools in Nairobi focusing on mental health awareness, they facilitate open conversations. Safe spaces. And a simple but powerful message: every student is seen, heard, and valued.
For so many young people, this is the first time anyone has asked them how they are really doing—and meant it.

None of this happens without the team. Garden of Hope Foundation recently paused to celebrate the staff members who show up every day—mentors, coordinators, educators, and community organizers who have turned a job into a calling.
They are the ones sitting with students in schools across Kibera. Leading economic empowerment sessions with women working toward financial independence. Walking alongside young people as they discover who they want to become.
Garden of Hope Foundation understands that lasting change rarely happens all at once. It grows through relationships, trust, listening, and the willingness to keep showing up year after year for communities that deserve nothing less.
The greatest evidence of Garden of Hope Foundation's impact can be seen in the young people who have walked through its programs and are now stepping forward as leaders, mentors, and voices of hope in their communities. Their stories are a reminder that transformation is not just about where someone starts—it is about what becomes possible when a young person is given opportunity, support, and someone willing to believe in them.
